FAQ

Questions, Answered

Still have a question? Send us a message and we'll answer the same day we can.

How long does sanding and refinishing take?

Most homes take 3 to 5 days, depending on the square footage, the stain and the number of coats. Your written estimate includes the schedule.

When can we walk on the floor and move furniture back?

Typically socks only after about 24 hours, furniture after 3 to 4 days, and rugs after about 2 weeks. We give you exact times for your finish.

Can we stay home during the work?

Usually yes, as long as you stay out of the rooms we're working in. Finish odor is strongest while it's applied, so with oil-based finishes many families stay elsewhere for a night.

How much dust will there be?

We seal off the work area, cover doorways and vents, and vacuum as we go. Sanding always makes some dust, but we clean up at the end of every day.

Hardwood or vinyl plank: which is right for me?

Hardwood adds value to your home and can be refinished many times. Vinyl plank is waterproof and a smart choice for basements, bathrooms and rentals.

Can my old floors be refinished instead of replaced?

Most solid hardwood floors can be sanded several times. During the free visit we check board thickness and damage and tell you honestly whether refinishing makes sense.

How is the price calculated?

By the square foot, plus stairs, repairs or custom work. You get a written, itemized quote before we start.
